Quilting Essentials 1
| Complete a quilted wall hanging with 12" squares using quilting instructions provided in class. Learn all the basic quilting skills including: Strip Piecing, Applique, Flying Geese, Half Square Triangles, Paper Piecing, Quilting, and Binding. If you have no sewing experience, please sign up for our Beginner Bee Machine & Rotary Cutter Basic class. Be sure to check the supply list below or at the shop! **Special rulers/tools will be available to try out during the class sessions & available for purchase at Busy Bee! ***Fabric is not included in the Class price. However, Class participants get a 20% discount on Supplies & Fabrics at Busy Bee Quilts. |
Class Sessions:
Class 1 - Select fabrics and check sewing machines
Class 2 - Cut out fabric for the 5 quilt blocks
Class 3 - Sew Log Cabin and Churn Dash blocks
Class 4 - Sew Star and Five Square blocks
Class 5 - Paper Piece and applique middle block
Class 6 - Sew blocks together and add boarder
Class 7 - Sandwich quilt top, batting and backing and learn quilting ideas
Class 8 - Finish quilt, with binding
General Supplies Needed:
- Instruction book - provided at the first class
- Working sewing matching
- Sewing machine feet: 1/4", open-toed, and walking foot
- Thread - grey or neutral
- Rulers - 6"x12" and 8"x24"
- Rotary Cutter
- Scissors
- Straight pins
- Seam ripper
- Cutting mat and iron (for work at home)
