QUILT PREPARATION & EXPECTATIONS
Please print out the Machine Quilting REQUEST FORM you completed online and mail it with your quilt.
QUILT TOP
v Check the length and squareness of your quilt – check for excess fullness in the borders.
v Press your quilt top. When in doubt, press seams toward the darker fabric.
v Clip all threads - especially dark threads that may show through lighter fabric.
v Please make sure there are no holes in any seams
v No Pins in the quilt top (our fingers & machine needles thank you!).
v Basting - Please do not baste your quilt. The quilt is loaded in a specific way, which can cause issues if it is basted first.
v If you are planning on using buttons or other embellishments it is best to add them after the quilt is quilted. Some appliques are okay to add, but not all appliques can be quilted through.
BACKING & BATTING
v Size - Please make both batting and backing overlap at least 4" all around (cut at least 8” Longer & 8” wider than your quilt top). Click here to see an example to help you.
v Source - You are welcome to mail your backing fabric with your quilt – any excess will be sent back to you.
v Backing fabric can be purchased from our shop at a discount. We carry a variety of wide backings.
v Backing directionality - if there is a specific way you would like the backing to line up with your quilt top, it is very important to add notes on your intake form.
v It is also helpful to pin a note to both the quilt top & backing, to show us which edge is the North.
v Please square up your backing so it can be pinned on straight.
v We only carry highest quality battings - offered at a very competitive price (Discount off regular prices).
v Batting prices will vary by material, vendor, and width

QUILTING DESIGN / PATTERNS
Our beautiful and affordable quilting patterns will make your quilt come to life! All quilting is done on our computerized Gammill Quilting Machine inside our clean retail shop. From the moment we receive your quilt top, we treat it as our own. It is quilted with care and returned to you promptly.
v We know that selecting a Quilting Pattern can sometimes be the most difficult part of the process.
v Edge-to-Edge (E2E) patterns will generally repeat across the entire quilt – from one edge to another.
v These can be adjusted/scaled to be more or less dense (this will affect the cost)
v Quilt Pattern directionality - Please note if you would like your quilting design to go a specific direction on the quilt - please pin a note to the North edge. Click here for an example
v There are literally thousands of quilting patterns to choose from! Open, widely spaced patterns work best with puffy batting. Otherwise, the sky is the limit!
v We have a catalog of standard patterns:
EDGE-TO-EDGE PATTERNS
CORNER PATTERNS
BORDER PATTERNS
BLOCK PATTERNS
v If you don't see something you like, feel free to browse the following sites and submit a pattern suggestion with your quilt top.
